Conservation of Lean Meadows

The conservation and restoration of lean meadows is one of the project objectives we have developed in partnership with Parco Monte Barro (Monte Barro Park).

Thanks to the meticulous work of Duccio Tampucci, areas with high naturalistic value within the Cascina Selvetto complex have been researched and mapped.

To detect vegetative species, samples were taken from various 25-square-meter areas where the percentages of present varieties could be studied.

A meadow rich in species ensures high-quality seeds for reseeding and environmental restoration. The term “fiorume,” once understood as the set of plant residues that settle in the floor of barns, is now interpreted as a mixture of seeds of particular naturalistic value that can be produced through modified agricultural machinery.
